I began dancing at the age of seven at the Simone School of Dance and trained in Ballet, Freestyle, Modern Jazz, Tap, Rock 'n' Roll, Gymnastics and Musical Theatre.
I gained IDTA qualifications and teacher qualifications at sixteen and went onto choreograph and teach at the Simone School of Dance.
Whilst training I was a member of the International Cabaret Company. I performed and choreographed for the company and toured many Midland theatres with International Cabaret. It was while I was working with this company I gained my equity card.
After this I went onto perform at the Old Rep Theatre and was James in James and the Giant Peach. I then had many other lead parts in Flight, Fright and Fantasy and James Bond, all performed at the Crescent Theatre.
I then went onto perform at 'Her Majesty's Theatre,' 'Sadlers Wells,' and choreograph and perform at 'The Royal Albert Hall,' in various variety dance performances. This led me to perform at Disney Land, Paris in a one night summer special performance.
At eighteen I went to Wolverhampton University and studied Contemporary, Ballet and Jazz and gained a BA/HONS degree in Dance. Throughout the course I was given many great opportunities like, performing at the Hippodrome Theatre to showcase my choreography. As well as working with the BBC to choreograph a dance trailer that was used to promote dance videos. I was also involved in a research project that looked at the significance of IPOD dance videos, which led my dance video which I had choreographed and danced in to be shown at the Lighthouse Cinema in Wolverhampton. I have also done lots of promotional dance like working with Richard Branson’s company Virgin.
When I was in my second year of my degree I set up the 'Amy Greaves School of Dance,' which is now an established dance school that caters for all ages and abilities and encourages pupils to participate in regular show and exam work.
After graduating I have gone on to develop my dance school, my dance school has performed at various theatres in Birmingham and London. For example The Artrix, Sadler’s Wells, Royal Albert Hall, O2 and many more. My dance school continues to be successful in achieving a 100% pass rate in their IDTA examinations. Whilst setting up my dance school I also worked in various primary and secondary schools as a dance/drama coach.
When I first set up my dance school I was also the head of dance at Ninestiles School where I was responsible for running the dance department and the students all had a 100% pass rate in their BTEC dance courses. I was also awarded Accelerated Skills Teacher which I am very proud of. During 2014 I focused on expanding my dance school and set up 'AG Educate' which is a dance education consultancy business.
I have also been involved in other ventures like appearing on Celebrity Big Brother's Little Brother on channel 5 and was also the commissioned choreographer for the Longbridge Light Festival 2016. I am also proud that through the dance school's hard work many of my dancer's are continuing to get professional dance work as models or commercial dancers.
In the summer of 2016 I started 'Audacity' which is a Contemporary Youth Company. This company completed their first tour and performed their debut dance piece Perfect Imperfections during the summer of 2016. I am really proud of the company's achievements and look forward to new adventures this company may face.
Another great opportunity that my dancers have been involved in is Dance Fest where dancers performed along side Diversity at Solihull's summer festival.
I am now looking forward to the new academic year as 2019/2020 is going to be full of so many opportunities.

Dance is my biggest passion. I've been dancing with Amy since I was 3. I do most classes that Amy offers & have had many opportunities to dance at big theatres such as the O2 Arena, Royal Albert Hall, Sadler's Wells, Drayton Manor, Her Majesty’s Theatre & Birmingham Hippodrome. I've taken part in every whole school show & have took many IDTA examinations in all of my subjects and passed with high results. We also have an annual Christmas show which all students can get involved in, this brings a joyful & festive close to our year. In 2018 I was lucky enough to win the Marguerite Award which is given for the most promising dancer, I was so thrilled to be given this by Amy. Amy is a very positive teacher who recognises all efforts which makes me love taking classes at the AGSOD. I'm very happy to help with the younger students as I love to teach & I hope to help make them happy in their classes too.
My love for dance began at the age of 4 when I joined AGSOD in 2007. Within the AGSOD I have had many opportunities to perform at well renowned theatres such as The Royal Albert Hall, Sadler’s Wells, The O2 Arena, Her Majesty’s Theatre and Birmingham Hippodrome. I have also taken lots of IDTA examinations in all my subjects and passed with highly commended or honours/distinctions. Amy has also helped me to progress in ballet by getting me up onto pointe at the age of 13. Amy has also given me opportunities to perform at local youth centres and care homes with our contemporary dance company Audacity. I enjoyed participating in this as I could share my passion of dance with my local community. Amy gave me the opportunity to help teach the younger students when I was 13, I really enjoyed doing this so I progressed onto helping with more classes. Helping with the younger students gives me personal satisfaction as it’s pleasing to see them grow and improve all of the time in a comforting environment.
I have been dancing with Amy since I was three years old and I currently still take six weekly classes, aged sixteen. I have had countless amazing opportunities from Amy such as performing in huge theatres, such as the Hippodrome, performing at festivals, such as ‘Dance Fest’ and even the simpler ones, like dancing at the local old people’s home. Last year, I was given a new opportunity to begin teaching the younger students, which has enabled me to develop skills further than dance itself. I have been able to transfer my experience of dance to other students, which is incredibly rewarding each week. It is a pleasure to watch each student, not only develop technically, but as a person themselves and I am very grateful to be a part of it.
I have been dancing at Amy’s since I was 4 and over the years done a range of different styles. I have taken part in all of the in house dance shows and several Christmas shows. This has enabled me to become more confident in myself and my dancing. I have really enjoyed helping Amy teach the classes and support the younger children with their moves and the choreography. I am happy that I have been given the opportunity to develop as an assistant teacher.
