The Amy Greaves School of Dance is an established school that has been running for over 15 years. The ethos of the dance school is to create a safe, fun and nurturing environment where students can develop and make outstanding progress. We offer a wide range of dance styles and students can participate in regular show and exam work. We are so proud that many dancers go on to train at BOA, Kingston University, London Studios and many other great establishments.
BA HONS/AST/IDTA/NQT/YOGA QUALIFIED/i-PATH
I began dancing at the age of seven at the Simone School of Dance and trained in Ballet, Freestyle, Modern Jazz, Tap, Rock 'n' Roll, Gymnastics and Musical Theatre.
I gained IDTA qualifications and teacher qualifications at sixteen and went onto choreograph and teach at the Simone School of Dance.
Whilst training I was a member of the International Cabaret Company. I performed and choreographed for the company and toured many Midland theatres with International Cabaret. It was while I was working with this company I gained my equity card.
After this I went onto perform at the Old Rep Theatre and was James in James and the Giant Peach. I then had many other lead parts in Flight, Fright and Fantasy and James Bond, all performed at the Crescent Theatre.
I have performed at 'Her Majesty's Theatre,' 'Sadlers Wells,' and choreographed and performed at 'The Royal Albert Hall,' in various variety dance performances. This led me to perform at Disney Land, Paris in a one night summer special performance.
At eighteen I went to Wolverhampton University and studied Contemporary, Ballet and Jazz and gained a BA/HONS degree in Dance. Throughout the course I was given many great opportunities like, performing at the Hippodrome Theatre to showcase my choreography. As well as working with the BBC to choreograph a dance trailer that was used to promote dance videos. I was also involved in a research project that looked at the significance of IPOD dance videos, my dance video which I had choreographed and danced in was shown at the Lighthouse Cinema in Wolverhampton. I have also done lots of promotional dance like working with Richard Branson’s company Virgin.
When I was in my second year of my degree I set up the 'Amy Greaves School of Dance,' which is now an established dance school that encourages pupils to participate in regular show and exam work.
After graduating I have gone on to develop my dance school, my dance school has performed at various theatres in Birmingham and London. For example The Artrix, Sadler’s Wells, Royal Albert Hall, Hippodrome, O2 and many more. My dance school continues to be successful in achieving a 100% pass rate in their IDTA examinations. Whilst setting up my dance school I also worked in various primary and secondary schools as a dance/drama coach.
When I first set up my dance school I was also the head of dance at Ninestiles School where I was responsible for running the dance department. The students all had a 100% pass rate in their BTEC dance courses. I was also awarded Accelerated Skills Teacher which I am very proud of. During 2014 I focused on expanding my dance school and set up 'AG Educate' which is a dance education consultancy business.
I have also been involved in other ventures like appearing on Celebrity Big Brother's Little Brother on channel 5, radio work and I was the commissioned choreographer for the Longbridge Light Festival 2016. I am proud that through the dance school's hard work many of my dancer's are continuing to get professional dance work as models or commercial dancers.
In the summer of 2016 I started 'Audacity' which is a Contemporary Youth Company. This company completed their first tour and performed their debut dance piece Perfect Imperfections during the summer of 2016 and completed another tour in 2018.
Another great opportunity that my dancers have been involved in is Dance Fest where dancers performed along side Diversity at Solihull's summer festival.
I have recently qualified as a yoga instructor and am working towards qualifying as a personal trainer. I look forward to expanding my dance school to include fitness and well being. I am also excited for my dance school to perform at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom next year.
I have been dancing at Amy’s since I was 4 and over the years done a range of different styles. I have taken part in all of the in house dance shows and many Christmas shows.
This has enabled me to become more confident in myself and my dancing. I have really enjoyed helping Amy teach the classes and supporting the younger children with their moves and the choreography. I am happy that I have been given the opportunity to develop as an assistant teacher.

I have been dancing with Amy since the age of 10. I did dance previously before Amy but it wasn't the same environment and a close net of friends. I was very welcomed as soon as I started. Been able to get on with everyone and making friends has helped me to become the dancer I am.
I have done many shows and exams at the AGSOD.
I have really enjoyed being able to help with the younger dancers and passing on what I've learnt and being able to help them to progress. This has helped me also to develop as a dancer and an assistant helper.
